Marina Ground Works
The Harbour Master has informed the Club that the Marina Ground works which started in February 2008 will be completed by Friday 16th May.
Members will be pleased to know that the car park for Marina users will be fully reopened by this Friday evening.
The Harbour Master is pleased with the work carried out by Seymours and apologises for any inconvenience caused to the Marina users during the period the work has been carried out.

Kip Regatta
Our two representatives from Whitby, Antix and Off Limits put in a very creditable performance in the Kip Regatta Series on the Clyde over the weekend.
Both Antix skippered by John Allen and Gerry Firth on Off Limits came 3rd overall in their respective classes.
The crews had a strong Whitby contingent amongst them.
Well done to you both. The WYC flag is flying in Scotland again.

Pontoon BBQ
The Club ran a successful 'Come as you are' Pontoon BBQ in the Club House on Saturday evening (10th May).
The Weather had 'Got its Hat on' and the Balcony was in full use whilst the BBQ 'King' (Chris Hinds) made full use of his cooking skills! The Bar was well run by Nigel Robinson, Phil Robinson and Pete Turner.
An excellent Buffet was orginised by Julia, Linda & Phil. Everybody had a enjoyable evening.

Well talking about missing tornados - last night I suppose you could say we missed it but about 8pm the site man came knocking on the door and told us to go into the office as the storm was just above us.
We had been listening on radio to local weather which is superb as its non stop and tracks the storms and tornados so we sat in office for half an hour with about 8 other people praying it would pass which it did it was torrential rain, forked lightening and massive winds. I no like it !!!!!
During night at about 3am the winds woke me up but not Roy so I woke him to listen - he said its ok not bad !!!!! I tried to imagine some of the horrid days on North sea and how Oasis looked after us - I didn’t have the feeling with Zinger.
Next morning dawned bright sunny wind still quite bad so we decided to have a day walking and thoroughly enjoyed it. It really brings it home to you about these tornado warnings and how quickly they move. Last night 5 people died. This is a wonderful country but not one I could live in with such extreme weather.

Round Britain Clockwise
'Nigel Robison gave a very interesting talk and slide show on his 'Round Britain to Clockwise' 2008 Race/Cruise in the Club House on Friday 2nd May to a very appreciative audience. The whole evening was very successful and Keith Gowland (Rear Commodore Cruise) thanked Nigel for the time he had taken to prepare for the lecture which was well received by the members - Well Done Nigel'
'The Midweek Racing Series got to a fine start with 6 boats competing in near perfect sailing conditions on Thursday evening (7th May 2008). The Club House was busy after the Race as the Club Bar staff provided BBQ and chips. The new catering venture will be available after every Mid week Race. Well done Chris, Linda and Pete.

Letter from Oasis 2 or Zinger
Howdy Folks
Would my man dare take me anywhere there is a risk of bad weather !
Story so far - no probs with flights and customs - as usual got lost finding Motel which was only 2 miles from airport - took 1 hour - Roy stopped on road to ask a police man where to go - it was dark - and the man started shouting at Roy - Bless him - just asked him calmly for help and he did in end. Roy said later he was praying I didn’t get out as we may have got ourselves arrested ! That night there was a huge thunderstorm.
Next day went to Best Buy and got phone and laptop - horrors its not as easy as it looks to use laptop, but sort of getting there and have now got hang of wifi - I think. Alan – don’t shout at me but not attempted photo side yet may have to ask someone to show me - scared I jigger it up.
We then went to Oklahoma - to buy SUV - that was the easy bit, it took 2 days and a round trip to Arkansas, Texas and back to Oklahoma getting 2 PO boxes to enable us to buy, insure and register it. Sorted by Monday drove to Missouri to complete purchase of travel trailer, that was easier. We have now spent 2 nights in our Zinger its heaven after the cramped space in Oasis.
We are in Ozark mountain area in north of Arkansas while we wait for our title for car and then we will go back to Fort Smith (didn’t know you had your own place here) to register trailer and collect post.
We spent day and half in Memphis, had tour round city, saw Beale street where it all happens music wise, tour of Graceland was superb.
We also watched the twisters on the TV but we have managed to miss them, when in Memphis they were on storm alert but twister missed by about 35 miles.
Weather has been good I am sat in hot sun looking over lovely rolling hills, Roy is trying to fix water heater, there are so many controls in this trailer to keep him occupied.
The trailer place man took a pic of us before we left and emailed it to me, I hope it is attached !
Both the car and trailer people were absolutely amazing, both family run places, and without their help at one stage with the car I thought we were almost giving up and on the next plane home!
