Club Pontoons.

Club Pontoons.

The current unsatisfactory situation on the Club moorings due to the shift of the piling adjacent to them, will necessitate the pontoons being moved to allow work to progress.

This will take place within the next few days and will be done in conjunction with the Harbour Authority.

The work affecting boat owners and their moorings should be completed by the beginning of May.

The Harbour Authority are working closely with our Moorings Secretary to ensure the minimum amount of disruption. They also assure us that alternative moorings will be found for boats during that period.

Work Boat

Work Boat Project

Progress has been made in the search for a new work boat.

The sub committee of Gareth Morgan, Gerry Firth, Ian Drake and Dave Wharton armed with the mandate to locate and purchase a suitable craft have now successfully accomplished the task.

Gareth and Gerry travelled to Portsmouth to look over what they thought would be a suitable craft. This proved to be the case and a deal was struck bring the project in well below budget. The funds saved will be used to find a suitable storage trailer.

The boat will arrive in Whitby, transported on a fuel only cost by Chris Chadwick for the start of the season in time for the mark laying and also maintenance of the pontoons. The responsibility for the running, repairs and maintenance will come under the Moorings Committee of which Gareth is currently Secretary.

The Committee and Members of WYC send congratulations to all on a job well done.
